Can we build a planning and execution platform to save delivery costs and improve employee experience

Udaan’s rapid growth demanded quick scaling of delivery operations, which led to heavy reliance on ad-hoc tools like Excel sheets and paper notes. This resulted in inconsistent delivery planning and increased costs. As the first design team to explore this space, we dived into understanding how delivery planning worked and its challenges.

We tackled the outdated Excel-based routing system by designing a platform that streamlined the process while addressing real-world factors like driver shifts, shop hours, and vendor contracts. Through nationwide research, we identified gaps and created workflows to process daily order data, optimize routes using algorithms, and allow users to make adjustments easily.

The result was a user-friendly platform that reduced onboarding time, improved decision-making for routing teams, and eliminated inefficiencies caused by ad-hoc planning. This project showcased how thoughtful design could solve complex problems, making delivery planning faster, smarter, and more reliable.
